Bismillah,

So we are working on a short promotional video for ICM (Islamic Community of Maryland). It will mainly be used for their fundraiser but will continue to be used as a promotional tool as to why they exist, what they currently do, and what their plans are for the future. We will keep you updated as to how things are going inshaAllah. This short will be done by March 28th Bi’ithnillah (God willing).

So, we’ve been working on a short movie to submit to a contest and the team finally got it all done. We submitted it yesterday and it is now up on the site:

It’s not amazing, but we’re actively working that issue

This is a project we wanted to work on to keep the “movie-making momentum” going and continue with the goals we’re trying to achieve.
If you are unfamiliar with these goals, i’ll mention them quickly here:
– Create alternative entertainment, to all the bad influence movies out there, that is professional and high quality.
– Make the entertainment Islamically founded and maintain I.C.E.: Islamically Clean Entertainment.
– Take 50% of Net Profits and donate it to charity so that people know they are not just supporting entertainment, they are supporting the betterment of the world. We would show how we used that money at the end of the movies we create as we progress.
– Raise awareness about our world and areas where we can influence and change, and show how to change as well as how we actually changed the world (as a company and with the people’s support) with the money we make as a company.
 
The Simple Math: If we were to work and raise 100K for charity, it would take a lot of effort, and at the end, it is nothing sustainable. If we however raise 100K to make awesome entertainment, reach out to a million people with the movie, and out of the million, 10% actually do something (not an unreasonable number) and they do something worth an average of $10, we have $10 X (10% of million = 100K) = 1 Million dollars. We take the million, give 500K to charity!! and still be left with 500K for the next film! crazy . Not exact, but absolutely doable.

Bismillah

So we’ve been working on our first short that will be inshaAllah (God willing) entered in the LinkTV contest. We have submitted the Final Cut to the sound designer and by the beginning of next week we should have it submitted. We will be releasing some information from behind the scenes about what equipment we used, how many people it took, and how we went about getting it done. Stay tuned.

This is the Muslims Holy month in which they obstain from food and drink and focus on self purification–both inwards and outwards.

As for “An Average Moe”, we have completed production. It went fairly smooth with some slight delays in a few scenes due to external issues (eg. Fire Alarms, Rail Systems, and Cars). We alhumdulillah were able to finish though.  

We are now in the Post Production phase and are half way through cutting the movie. This is where you edit the movie simply in terms of which shots you want to see and it what order. From there we work on Color, Video adjustments, Sound, Sound Effects, Voice Over, and Score. We do hope to have the movie released by 9/19/08.

Our first short movie entitled “An Average Moe” is a movie about a guy that seems to live a completely normal american life only to discover there are some slight differences in this guy’s life because he is a Muslim! All in all, he is just like the rest of us, except that he also prays five times a day, gives money to the poor, and greets people with Assalam-u-alaikum (Peace be upon you).

This project is finishing up the Pre-Production phase and is moving into Production over the weekend. Production is anticipated to be two days, with next weekend as a backup in case we are unable, due to unforeseen issues, to complete the shoot.

Script, and Production schedule are complete. We will update this site as we continue

A glimpse of how we started.
We’ve been into making movies since we were around 13 making little clips here and there and editing them using windows movie maker (on windows ME!). We’ve come a fair distance since then. There are many projects we were able to complete that we can’t show the public since they were family & friends videos.

The Present.
We just finished helping UmmahFilms with it’s first short movie entitled “Tomorrow Never Comes”. We started this website to start to build ourselves up and see what we can accomplish.

Future.
We have plenty of ideas, as do most people, but we are moving in the direction of implementing these ideas. We will need plenty of people to make these projects become reality. Currently in Pre-Production, we have two pending projects. They are fairly small. One of them will be appearing in the http://LinkTV.com/onenation contest currently entitled “An Average Moe”. Furthermore, the second project will be a movie revolving around a free clinic in Silver Spring, MD.
